Indore: Truckers and transporters in Indore, known as a major commercial center in Madhya Pradesh, are looking forward to the installation of an advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints. This move is expected to create a transparent framework and boost the logistics flow from the city. Approximately 4,000 commercial vehicles depart from Indore daily, a number that increases during festive periods.
According to CL Mukati, president of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, the government's efforts to streamline vehicle movement by replacing check posts with checkpoints are falling short due to the lack of a reliable monitoring system. He emphasized the need for a technology-based solution to oversee vehicle movement, prevent disruptions, and address allegations of extortion.
Various transport associations, including the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association and the All India Motor Transport Congress, have urged the Minister of Transport, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, to implement a technology-driven monitoring system for transparent and seamless movement of commercial vehicles in the state. Truckers have also requested a dedicated helpline and official app to report issues and complaints.
In a positive development, the Madhya Pradesh government announced the removal of all checkposts at interstate borders on July 1, a move welcomed by transporters seeking smoother movement and reduced corruption.
